Stevens County Fair Launches “Raise the Grandstand” Campaign for Future Generations

The Stevens County Fair has long stood as a cornerstone of community life for over 153 years bringing together families, friends, and neighbors to celebrate agriculture, entertainment, and local pride. Now, fair leaders are looking ahead with an ambitious plan to ensure the fairgrounds continue serving the community for decades to come.

The “Raise the Grandstand” campaign is a major improvement project aimed at modernizing the fair’s grandstand area while honoring the traditions that have made the fair a beloved annual event.

This transformative project will include the demolition of outdated structures and significant upgrades across the grounds. Plans call for extensive dirt and concrete work, brand-new grandstand seating, and a renovated racetrack area designed to better accommodate events and spectators alike.

In addition to improving the viewing experience, the project places a strong emphasis on accessibility and convenience. New, larger restrooms will be constructed with modern, ADA-compliant features, along with improved seating options to ensure all visitors can comfortably enjoy the fair. Ticket booths and overall infrastructure will also be upgraded, including improvements to water and sewer lines that serve the entire fairgrounds.

Fair officials emphasize that this is more than just a cosmetic upgrade—it’s an investment in safety, accessibility, and the long-term sustainability of the fair. The enhanced facilities are expected to open the door for more events and expanded use of the grounds throughout the year.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $1.5 million. Fundraising efforts are already underway, with nearly one-third of the goal achieved. Community members and supporters are encouraged to contribute through one-time donations or by making monthly or yearly commitments. “This project is about building something that will serve not just today’s fairgoers, but future generations,” organizers say. “It’s about making sure the Stevens County Fair remains a place where memories are made for years to come” along with promoting the mission of the fair to educate, entertain, and promote agriculture, the arts, horticulture, and other interest of the residents of Stevens County and its communities.

As part of the fundraising effort, the fair will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, May 9, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Lee Community Center. The event will feature pancakes and sausage with a free-will offering, giving attendees a chance to support the project while learning more about the plans for the future.

Families are encouraged to attend, enjoy breakfast together, and take part in shaping the next chapter of the Stevens County Fair. With continued community support, the “Raise the Grandstand” project aims to create a more inclusive, functional, and vibrant fair experience for all. The Fair is also working on partnering with a few local vendors to add that extra reason to stop at the Lee Center that morning and shop.
